Today we will travel to the famed trulli area of Apulia and the lush Valle d’Itria. Blanketed with vineyards and olive groves, this valley is dotted with hundreds of trulli, traditional dry-stone structures with conical roofs that were used by Apulian farmers. We will stop along the way for olive oil and wine tastings followed by a visit to the incredible town of Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Today we will explore Bari with a family-friendly bike ride through its historical center (options available for non-bike riders). There you will still find local women making their fresh pasta (orecchiette) and selling it from their home windows. We will then venture to Castel del Monte to learn its mysterious history. The whole family will be fascinated by this octagonal shaped building that is considered a genius example of Medieval architecture with its hidden symbols that have engaged scholars for centuries. Today will be an usual and fun cultural experience that will arouse the senses of whole family - a visit to a donkey farm. Integral to the agricultural way of life in Italy, these affection animals will endear themselves to you with their sweet eyes and the fun games they play. Our visit will include a short trek around the farm by donkey for those interested in riding. Today we will visit the charming coastal village of Polignano a Mare. Known for its stunning cliffs, historic architecture and most importantly for kids of all ages, it’s delicious ice cream. After free time to explore, we will board tuk tuks for a unique tour of the countryside near to the area. We will stop along the way to admire the rolling hills, ancient farms, and some medieval villages of this area up close. Overnight at seaside resort near Monopoli

A group transfer this morning to Bari International Airport is included. The transfer will be in time for anyone catching the AM flight from Bari to Milan to continue on to Kids Alpine Summer Camp and/or Parents Retreat through the Alps, Riveria and Piedmont trips. A private transfer can be arranged for any participants leaving later in the day (not included).
