Ireland & England (Combined Itinerary) – Fall 2024

Experience the wonders of Ireland & England on this 14 night/15 day tour. Ireland is a country bursting with interesting people, extraordinary places and fascinating traditions all waiting for you to find. You will start and end your journey in Ireland’s capital city of Dublin before heading to the countryside and coast to take in all of Ireland’s hidden treasures. The group will then be trasferred from Cork to London to begin their exploration of England. From London to Cambridge to Oxford and more, there is something for everyone on this trip. In addition to seeing the highlights of England, we will be off-the-beaten path visiting some of tour leaders favorite hidden gems.

About our trip guide: Louise Maciejewski
Born in Great Britain, Louise grew up in Oxford, England. She attended St. Clare’s Hall in Oxford, and then earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in archaeology from the Institute of Archaeology London, England.

She later applied her artistic skills in an apprenticeship at a renowned fine art conservation studio in Milan. Louise has worked as a Canvas and Panel Painting conservator and Restorer for various auction houses as well as for the Italian Soprintendenza ai Beni Culturali. On-site conservation projects include work on various churches in Turin, Archaeological digs in Spain and a Roman site in Tuscany.

Having travelled widely throughout Europe, she settled in Tuscany where she runs an Organic Olive farm . She also works as a certified tour guide all over Europe. She is excitd to share her love of Ireland with you.


DAY 0 - Sunday, September 22

Fly from the USA to Dublin, Ireland.

DAY 1 - Monday, September 23: Dublin

Upon arrival, you will be picked up at the airport and transferred to your centrally located hotel in Dublin. You will have time to rest and get settled before a welcome talk and dinner this evening. Sleep in Dublin.

DAY 2-Tuesday, September 24: Dublin

This morning we will become further acquainted with Dublin, as we enjoy a tour of Ireland’s capital city, including its winding and narrow streets in the city center, Trinity College and the Old Library, which is the permanent home of the Book of Kells. In the afternoon, you will have time to visit the Guinness Storehouse if you have not done so already! This evening enjoy a performance of traditional Irish Music to cap off our evening in this lively city. Sleep in Dublin.

DAY 3 - Wednesday, September 25: Midlands Region/Galway

This morning we will depart from Dublin to Galway, driving through the rolling hills of Ireland’s heartland regions. We will stop along the way to visit the Drum Heritage Center in Athlone before continuing on to Galway. Upon arrival in Galway, we will spend the afternoon and evening exploring the historic city center, dine at one of Galway’s excellent seafood restaurants and enjoy live music and Tigh Neachtain - Galway’s best traditional Irish bar since 1894, also renowned for its collection of whiskeys. Sleep in Galway.

DAY 4 - Thursday, September 26: Connemara

Today we will explore scenic Connemara, Ireland’s largest Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking) region, with its granite hills, sparkling lakes and peat bogs. We will visit Kylemore Abbey, set besides a tranquil lake and visit its elegant rooms and charming church. The abbey was founded as a convent for nuns fleeing Belgium during World War I. Afterwards, we will visit the Victorian Walled Gardens and enjoy a casual lunch before taking a short catamaran cruise of Killary Harbor, a 9-mile fjord. Sleep in Galway.

DAY 5 - Friday, September 27:The Burren and Cliffs of Moher

Today we will start our journey with the visit to the fishing village of Kinvara to see Dunguaire Castle. Then we are off to the Burren, home to 75% of Ireland’s native flora and the location of numerous monuments such as the Gleninsheen Wedge Tomb and the 5,800 year old Poulnabrone Dolmen. We will make another stop at the coastal village of Doolin. After lunch, we will visit the highlight for the day, the Cliffs of Moher, before returing to Galway for the evening. Sleep in Galway.

DAY 6 -Saturday, September 28: Ring of Kerry

This morning we will depart for Cork, while enjoying the panoramic Ring of Kerry, a scenic loop encompassing the Iveragh Peninsula. You will see breathtaking coastal scenery, rolling hills, rugged peatlands and stunning mountain terrain. Along the way, we will stop in Ballinskelligs where famous Irish Skelligs chocolate is made. Afterwards, we will make our way to Cork. Sleep near Cork.

DAY 7 - Sunday, September 29: Blarney Castle & Cork

Today we will start our day with a visit to the nearby Blarney Castle with its famous stone. In the afternoon, we will enjoy a walking tour of Cork, including a stop at its famous English market and butter museum, where we will learn the secrets of making traditional Irish butters. Sleep near Cork.

DAY 8 - Monday, September 30: Transfer from Cork to London

Today you will be transferred from Ireland to England. Upon arrival in London you will have time to check-in and relax before meeting the group for casual walking tour followed a welcome drink and dinner with the new participants joining this leg of the tour. Overnight in London.

DAY 9 - Tuesday, October 1: London

Today we will start the morning by enjoying the classic pageantry of the Changing of the Guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace. A boat ride down the Thames will bring us to the Tower of London. We will finish the day with an optional visit to the Westminster Abbey for Sunday evening song service. Overnight in London.

DAY 10 - Wednesday, October 2: Canterbury

Today we will leave London to start our exploration of the rest of England. We will start with a visit to the quaint medieval city of Canterbury. We will visit its storied cathedral and learn some of its more interesting (and sometimes gruesome) past. Afterwards we will make our way to city of Cambridge with its famous namesake University, out base for the next two nights. Overnight in Cambridge.

DAY 11 - Thursday, October 3: Cambridge

Today we will get a good look at the charming University town of Cambridge. We will visit the areas near to the University, the beautiful botanic gardens and enjoy strolling along the lovely streets and greenways of this small city. Overnight in Cambridge.

DAY 12 - Friday, October 4: Oxford

Today we will move to Oxford to visit its wonderful museums, storied libraries, and famous colleges. Fans of Harry Potter will recognize some of filming locations set at the University. Later you will be fascinated by the collections at the Pitt Rivers Museum. Overnight in Oxford.

DAY 13 - Saturday, October 5: Bath & Avebury Henge

Today we will visit the breathtaking city of Bath (a UNESCO world heritage site), where we will learn about its ancient past. The Roman Baths, about 2,100 years old, are amongst the most famous and important Roman remains north of the Alps and mark the beginning of Bath's history as a spa town. We’ll then admire the city’s many beautiful buildings before we head to Avebury, a lesser know henge and standing stone circle where we will be able to explore freely and up close. Overnight in Oxford.

DAY 14 - Sunday, October 6: The Cotswolds

Today we will explore the Cotswolds area with its charming and picturesque villages. We will start the day with a visit to the magnificent Blenheim Palace and Gardens., followed by some charming and picturesque villages where we will enjoy a festive farewell lunch at a local pub. Overnight in Oxford.

DAY 14 - Monday, October 7: Departure

Today you will be transferred to Heathrow airport for your return flight.
