This morning we will say good-bye to Venice and go to the region's quiet and charming countryside. We will visit a beautiful winery to sample one of the up-and-coming wines of Italy: Valpolicella. Today you will say goodbye to Lake Garda and reach beautiful Lake Como and the small village of Lenno. You will explore one of its most beautiful villas with its amazing and multicoloured park. You will have time to relax and enjoy the incredible views over the lake. Later in the day you will try the diverse and interesting food of the area, including the pizzoccheri, a tasty buckwheat pasta, and a famous lake fish served with polenta. Sleep in Lenno, Lake Como.

Today you will cross Lake Como by boat to discover Varenna where you will enjoy a fun and inspiring cooking class and, weather permitting, you might attend a historic show of falconry. Sleep in Lenno, Lake Como.

Today you will reach Lake Maggiore and explore Isola Bella, the nicest of the islands of the lake. You will enjoy views of Isola Madre and Isola dei Pescatori and learn about the aristocratic Borromeo family. When they took possession of the area in the 16th and 17th centuries, they called on the best architects, artists and gardeners to completely transform Isola Bella and Isola Madre with opulent palaces and the most beautiful parks in Italy. Isola dei Pescatori, traditionally a fishing community, remained unchanged and is today a simple, charming and well preserved village. This morning you will enjoy a very interesting tour of amazing Turin, once the capital of the Savoy Kingdom. Home to the Italian Royal family for centuries, Turin hosts a number of awesome buildings such as Mole Antonelliana – the symbol of the city- the Royal Palace – which now displays a beautiful painting museum – and the Cathedral – which preserves arguably the most famous Roman Catholic relic in the world – the Shroud of Turin. After a walking tour of the centre you will sample delicious hand-made chocolate and have time to meander through a few of the world’s finest coffee and pastry shops and fine shopping streets. You will then enjoy a scenic drive across the verdant Po River valley and into the fragrant rolling hills of Piedmont. This region’s culinary and wine-making traditions are world famous! Tonight you will check into a peaceful hotel for a relaxing two-night stay. Sleep in Piedmont.

Today will be a true culinary feast! You will enjoy a special lunch at an local organic cheese producer who is a strong believer in self-sufficient farming – a true character! You will also visit one of the most excellent wineries of the region where you will learn about the two fullbodied reds that are produced from the local Nebbiolo grape: Barolo and Barbaresco. Tonight you will sample some of the best dishes of Piedmontese cuisine, including “ravioli del plin”, “vitello tonnato” and “carne battuta al coltello”. Sleep in Piedmont.
