Fly from US to Rome

We will begin our trip with an airport transfer from Rome FCO airport for the group in the early afternoon to our agriturismo in Umbria near to the city of Gubbio. Please plan for your flight to arrive no later than 12:30PM to make the transfer. If you prefer to arrive a day earlier and stay at the airport hotel or a hotel in the Rome city center, a hotel night and transfers can be added. After our transfer to Gubbio, you will have time to rest and relax before a casual welcome dinner and drinks at the agriturismo this evening. Sleep near Gubbio

Today we will spend some time visiting Gubbio, considered one of the best-preserved medieval villages in Italy. By special invitation, we will visit an ancient palace, now a historical monument, where our hostess will transport us back in time and tell us how the locals used to live, eat, pray, and die. We will learn more of Gubbio's famous Ceri Festival and what the people from Gubbio are doing to protect their cultural identity and traditions Sleep near Gubbio

Today we will explore the gorgeous Tuscan hill town of Cortona, once an important center of Etruscan civilization. Along with a guided tour by a local archaeologist, you will have time to stroll through this beautiful city, the setting for the book and film Under the Tuscan Sun. Sleep near Gubbio

Today we will visit Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis, and one of the most mystical locations in Italy. Preaching to the common man a gospel of purity, humility, simplicity, and the love of all creatures, St. Francis sent out a timeless message of acceptance and love to all of humankind. Today we will have more time to explore our home base of Gubbio, where you can learn more about the traditions, local products, beautiful ceramics and history of the area. Those looking to experience a breathtaking viewpoint, can hike to the top of Mount Ingino (the mountain on which the city is built).Sleep near Gubbio

Today we will venture into the Marche region of Italy with a visit to Fabriano, famous for its artisan paper making. We will learn more of this tradition with a visit to the Museo della Carta as well as visit to the town center. Also, near to Fabriano is the magnificent Madonna della Grota in Genja where we will make a stop en route.Sleep near Gubbio

Today we will venture out to experience a lively and delicious cooking class at a countryside location where you will have time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and views of the area. Sleep near Gubbio

Today our group will be transferred to Rome to accommodate early morning flights. A private transfer can be added if you wish to leave later in the day or continue your travels in Italy.
